I'm completing my Bachelor of Education (Primary and Middle) with Honours, and this semester I'm required to keep up to date with reflections of my learning, understanding, and progress as I prepare for a research project, my final prac, and attempting to get a job.
These are my thoughts.
I have to start identifying reflections specifically for this course, or I will lose track of them, and I need them for an assignment.
Intended Action: Between classes, visited my school in hopes of catching one of my mentor teachers and making an appointment to talk with him and my other mentor about my research paper next week.
What Happened: No one knew where he was, so I waited a little bit, but eventually he came back to his office, and I have now booked to come back to the school on Monday at 10:30am to talk about possible topics for my research project. I also collected his email so I can contact him easily that way.
Comments: I could have asked the office or the Head’s PA for his email last week to save the step of waiting to come in personally. Between now and my meeting on Monday I need to have brainstormed a list of potential research topics, and have written most of my Situational Analysis (context) except for details I need to ask D or J about. I also need to practice thinking critically, and consider how to better do that.
For 4001:
We are to complete a weekly reflection, commenting on three areas:
in the context of our research project.
As I haven’t yet discussed the possible projects I could do with my teacher mentors, I don’t have a big list of project-related things to do, except talk to my teacher mentors. I plan to visit my school before work on Tuesday, or between classes on Wednesday to catch one of my mentors and make a time to meet properly to talk over possible research topics.
I feel confident with the research, having done courses in educational research, and completing assignments about methodology and literature reviews and data collection etc. So I feel like a have a bit of a head-start in that respect. But without a topic, I can’t really do much.
That’s where I’m up to currently. I’ll keep this updated though!
