I'm completing my Bachelor of Education (Primary and Middle) with Honours, and this semester I'm required to keep up to date with reflections of my learning, understanding, and progress as I prepare for a research project, my final prac, and attempting to get a job.
These are my thoughts.
4000 - You should write a daily reflective diary/journal during your Internship to recount events and your thinking about situations as they arise in your context. This will assist you in completion of the assessment task Stream of consciousness writing can be useful but try to focus on specific situations and over time try to see patterns emerging or resolutions occurring. Your writings can range from profound concerns right through to your proudest successes. Write in first person and make your reflections personal and engaging to yourself. You are the audience.
Because getting into the habit of daily reflecting on your practice promotes thinking-on-practice during the day. It helps aid your memory, and assists in planning and professional development.
As well as the reflective journal, this class is quite full on! There’s a task called “Narratives” which is comprised of 6 tasks, which I’m going to try to do as soon as possible, because I’m going to be way too busy to think about it come prac time.
And eventually I need to prepare a presentation on some topic of current education policy and reforms. My group volunteered me for that topic while I was at work. Not ideal as I’m not actually applying for work with my state education, therefore don’t need to know these so indepth as other people going for interviews with state schools, and it’s due the week before we go on prac. But I’ll take it. I’d rather not argue.
